Minion Prince Overview

The Minion Prince was added on November 25, 2024 with the Town Hall 17 update. He was the fifth Home Village Hero introduced, but today he is the third Hero in the normal unlock order because Hero Hall level 3 becomes available at Town Hall 9.

His defining trait is flight. The Minion Prince ignores Walls, attacks both ground and air targets from 4.5 tiles, moves at speed 24 and attacks every 0.85 seconds. He works best as a ranged air-support Hero rather than a front-line tank.

He upgrades with Dark Elixir. On defense he remains an aerial unit, so troops that only target ground cannot hit him.

Starting Level After the Hero Hall Migration

When the Hero Hall system launched, eligible players above Town Hall 9 did not always begin the Minion Prince at level 1. His starting level was tied to the Hero Hall granted during migration: the Prince started at the level cap of the Hero Hall one level below the Hall a player received. For example, a player given Hero Hall 5 could begin with a level 20 Minion Prince, while a player given Hero Hall 3 started at level 1.

Minion Prince Equipment: All Hero Equipment

The Minion Prince can equip two pieces of Hero Equipment while attacking and does not use Hero Equipment while defending. He starts with Henchmen Puppet and Dark Orb. Blacksmith progression adds Metal Pants and Noble Iron, while Dark Crown and Meteor Staff are Epic options.

Equipment choice changes whether he is used for early ranged pressure, safer long-duration support, slowing enemy targets or extra defense damage. Supercell’s Clash Anytime update specifically describes Noble Iron as equipment that boosts the speed, range and power of his opening projectiles.

CommonActive
Minion Prince Henchmen Puppet Hero Equipment

Henchmen Puppet

Summons a pair of Henchmen, briefly hides the Minion Prince and grants a strong health-recovery effect. Its passive boost increases damage.

CommonActive
Minion Prince Dark Orb Hero Equipment

Dark Orb

Launches an icy orb forward that damages and slows enemy targets in its path. Passive boosts add damage and maximum health.

CommonActive
Minion Prince Metal Pants Hero Equipment

Metal Pants

Reduces incoming damage for a short period and provides a large health recovery. Its passive boost increases maximum health.

CommonPassive
Minion Prince Noble Iron Hero Equipment

Noble Iron

Improves the Minion Prince’s opening projectiles with extra speed, range and power. Its passive boost increases attack speed.

EpicPassive
Minion Prince Dark Crown Hero Equipment

Dark Crown

Builds additional damage and maximum-health value as friendly housing space is lost, up to three stages. Passive boosts also support health and attack speed.

EpicPassive
Minion Prince Meteor Staff Hero Equipment

Meteor Staff

Periodically calls down a meteor on the closest defense for extra pressure while providing passive damage and maximum-health boosts.

Useful Minion Prince equipment pairings

  • Henchmen Puppet + Metal Pants: a safer support setup with extra bodies, recovery and damage reduction.
  • Noble Iron + Dark Crown: favors ranged pressure and stronger damage over the course of a larger push.
  • Dark Orb + Meteor Staff: adds control plus repeated pressure on defenses while the main army advances.
  • Henchmen Puppet + Noble Iron: a practical mixed setup for players who want opening range value without giving up the Puppet’s safety.

Minion Prince Attack Strategies

The Minion Prince is an air specialist and is usually strongest behind the main army. Dragons, Dragon Riders, Electro Dragons, Lava Hounds and other higher-health flying troops can take the first wave of anti-air fire while his 4.5-tile range keeps him working from behind.

Use Him as Support, Not the First Tank

His flight lets him ignore Walls, but it does not make him immune to concentrated Air Defenses, Seeking Air Mines or other air-targeting threats. A later or protected deployment usually produces more value than sending him alone into a defended compartment.

Funneling for Air Armies

Because he has long range and no wall restriction, the Minion Prince can help shape one side of an attack before joining the main push. With Electro Dragons, keep him slightly to the side so his own building takedowns do not unnecessarily interrupt chain-lightning paths.

Match Equipment to the Job

Henchmen Puppet and Metal Pants emphasize survival. Noble Iron adds stronger opening shots and more reach. Dark Orb adds control by slowing targets, while Dark Crown and Meteor Staff reward attacks that want more damage pressure as the battle develops.

Automatic Ability Can Save a One-Shot

If automatic Hero abilities are enabled, the Minion Prince can trigger his ability just before being knocked out. In the source behavior shown for this Hero, that can even activate against a one-shot threat such as a Seeking Air Mine and leave him alive with 1 hitpoint.

Minion Prince Defensive Strategies

On defense, place the Minion Prince where attackers must commit real anti-air damage to reach him. A central or protected position can make him distract flying attackers while nearby defenses continue firing.

He defends as an aerial Hero, so ground-only troops cannot target him. That makes the surrounding Air Defenses, Air Sweepers and air traps especially important.

Build the Air Trap Layer Around Him

Spread Seeking Air Mines and other aerial traps so one sacrificial Balloon cannot remove all of their value. Air Sweepers can also help force Dragons or other air armies into less comfortable approaches while the Minion Prince continues attacking from range.

How to Counter an Enemy Minion Prince

Bring troops or Heroes that can actually target air, and avoid relying on ground-only units to remove him. Archer Queen, ranged troops and air armies can engage him; the faster he is removed, the less value his long range gets behind the defending base.

Frequently Asked Questions – Minion Prince

The current maximum in this 2026 guide is level 95. Level 95 requires Hero Hall 12 at Town Hall 18.

The Minion Prince unlocks at Hero Hall level 3, available from Town Hall 9.

At Town Hall 15, Hero Hall 9 supports the Minion Prince through level 70.

At Town Hall 17, Hero Hall 11 supports the Minion Prince through level 90.

Yes, especially when your army needs a flying long-range support Hero. His strongest value comes from attacking behind tougher air troops while avoiding concentrated anti-air fire.

There is no single best pair for every army. Henchmen Puppet + Metal Pants favors safety, Noble Iron + Dark Crown favors pressure, and Dark Orb + Meteor Staff adds control and defense damage.

They fill different roles. Minion Prince is a dedicated flying damage/support Hero, while Grand Warden is built around army-wide support and long-range utility. The better choice depends on the army and the four Hero slots you are using.

They are not direct replacements. Barbarian King is a durable ground melee Hero; Minion Prince is a ranged aerial support Hero. Air-heavy attacks can favor the Prince, while ground pushes may gain more from the King.

When Hero Hall migration launched, eligible accounts could receive a higher starting Minion Prince level based on the Hero Hall they were granted. A Hero Hall 5 migration, for example, could start him at level 20.
