Archer Queen Overview

The Archer Queen is the second Hero to unlock, becoming available at Hero Hall level 2 once Town Hall 8 is reached. She plays as a bigger, far more powerful version of a regular Archer, hitting from 5 tiles away instead of 3.5 and dealing much heavier damage and hitpoints. Visually she carries a modified X-Bow rather than a standard bow, and while her attack animation shows three arrows firing at once, that volley is purely cosmetic — the damage lands as a single hit.

Unlike the Barbarian King, the Archer Queen can strike both ground and air units, which makes her a strong defender against air-heavy raids when assigned to a Hero Banner. On defense she only engages within range of her banner and falls back if pulled too far from it, and a base does not need to defeat her for an attack to still finish as a 3-star. She is available for both attacking and defending, but sits out of both while she is being upgraded.

Once per battle she can trigger an ability that restores a portion of her health, with the amount scaling up every five hero levels. Which Hero Equipment she is carrying changes what that ability actually does — some pieces add a unique effect on top of the healing, others swap the ability out entirely for something like summoned troops or a damage boost.

Archer Queen Equipment Guide: All Hero Equipment

When attacking, the Archer Queen can equip two pieces of Hero Equipment. She does not use Hero Equipment while defending. Archer Puppet and Invisibility Vial are available from the start; Blacksmith progression unlocks Giant Arrow and Healer Puppet, while Frozen Arrow, Magic Mirror, Action Figure and Monolith Arrow are Epic options.

Equipment choice should match the attack plan: sustained Queen Walk value, a high-impact ability activation, long-range damage or extra protection while the Queen works through key defenses.

Useful Archer Queen equipment pairing

  • Frozen Arrow + Invisibility Vial: a strong all-round combination already covered in this guide; the slow effect reduces pressure on the Queen while invisibility creates a high-damage ability window.

How to Attack with the Archer Queen

Among the five Home Village Heroes the Archer Queen is the speed specialist, and her extra range over a normal Archer lets her pick off defenses from outside their own reach when she’s protected by a screen of tanking troops in front of her.

Queen Walk and Queen Charge

Pairing the Archer Queen with Healers — widely known as a Queen Walk — lets her clear large sections of a base to build a funnel, though it needs a high hero level since she can’t deal enough damage alone and will eventually stall out.

A Queen Charge is the more aggressive version: instead of funneling, the Queen and her Healers push straight into the core to strip key defenses, usually backed by Wall Breakers, a jump spell, or other funneling troops. Druids can substitute for Healers in either version; they heal less efficiently per hero but their healing bounces between multiple targets, before switching into a Bear form after 30 seconds that trades healing for extra tanking.

Support Troops and Spells

Rage Spells speed up healing from Healers or Druids during a Queen Walk or Charge, while Freeze Spells buy time against high single-target damage from defenses like an Inferno Tower. Seeking Air Mines can shred Healers if placed near them, so bringing a few Balloons ahead of the push to soak up those mines is common practice — though the trick doesn’t work against Druids, since Seeking Air Mines only target air units.

Pets and Equipment Combos

Frosty is the most common Pet pairing, slowing and distracting defenses with its Frostmites during a Queen Walk or smash attack. The Unicorn offers steady healing instead, and the Phoenix can substitute for the Unicorn while it’s mid-upgrade, with the added benefit of reviving the Queen if she falls while her ability is active.

On the equipment side, Frozen Arrow paired with Invisibility Vial is a strong all-round combo — the slow effect reduces incoming damage while invisibility lets her deal more of her own — though a pet won’t share the invisibility, so it can get picked off early and leave her without support.

Beating a Defending Barbarian King

A defending Barbarian King can knock out the Archer Queen in a straight 1-on-1 if they’re close in level, so bring Healers, Druids, high-damage troops like Wizards, or Headhunters to back her up rather than sending her in alone against him.

How to Defend with the Archer Queen

The Archer Queen generally defends better than the Barbarian King thanks to her higher DPS, longer range, and ability to hit air units, even though her hitpoints are noticeably lower than his.

Hero Banner Placement

Place her Hero Banner 3–4 tiles from the nearest wall so she can’t jump out and get exposed to melee troops, and keep your other key defenses more than 5 tiles from open space so she can’t snipe them from outside their range. It also helps to keep the Eagle Artillery away from her banner, since Electrofying an attacker could otherwise take out both defenses in one spell.

Countering a Defending Archer Queen

The most reliable counter to a defending Archer Queen is often an attacker’s own Archer Queen, either walked in or placed behind a tank. A maxed Golem, for comparison, survives only around 10–11 seconds against a max-level defending Queen on its own. A same-level Barbarian King can also finish her off if she’s out from behind a wall and no other defenses or Clan Castle troops are helping her.

Spells such as Poison to slow her attacks, Skeletons to distract her, or Freeze to stop her from finishing off troops too quickly all help push through her damage. The Grand Warden’s Eternal Tome can keep troops alive during the takedown, while high-level Lightning Spells can finish off a lower-level defending Queen directly. Headhunters are also effective when covered by other troops or an Eternal Tome, since they get picked off quickly if sent in alone.

Archer Queen Hero Skins

The Archer Queen has received a new Hero Skin almost every month since her first, Gladiator Queen, in May 2019. Gold skins are Gold Pass rewards that become permanently purchasable for 1,500 Gems a year after release; Legendary skins are tied to special offers or medal events and aren't always guaranteed to return.

Frequently Asked Questions – Archer Queen

The Archer Queen unlocks at Hero Hall level 2, which itself requires Town Hall 8. She is the second Hero available after the Barbarian King.

At Town Hall 13, the Archer Queen can reach level 75 with Hero Hall level 7.

At Town Hall 14, the Archer Queen can reach level 85 with Hero Hall level 8.

At Town Hall 15, the Archer Queen can reach level 90 with Hero Hall level 9.

At Town Hall 17, the Archer Queen can reach level 100 with Hero Hall level 11.

At Town Hall 18, the Archer Queen can reach the current maximum of level 110 with Hero Hall level 12.

The upgrade to Archer Queen level 110 costs 490,000 Dark Elixir and takes 8 days.

Yes. Unlike the Barbarian King, the Archer Queen can target both ground and air units, which makes her especially strong when defending against air-based raids.

A Queen Walk sends the Archer Queen out ahead with Healers or Druids supporting her, clearing a wide path through a base to open up a funnel for the rest of the attacking army.

Frozen Arrow paired with Invisibility Vial is a strong all-round combo — the slow effect reduces incoming damage while invisibility lets her deal significantly more of her own.

Frosty is the most common pairing thanks to its Frostmites slowing and distracting defenses. The Unicorn and Phoenix are also popular, with the Phoenix able to revive the Queen if she falls mid-ability.

The Archer Queen’s max level is 110, which requires Hero Hall level 12. She started with a 30-level cap in 2013 and has been raised many times since, most recently with levels 106–110 added in June 2026.

Her range and ability to hit air units make her especially strong on defense against air raids, and on offense she’s effective at picking off exposed defenses from outside their range when protected by tanking troops.
