Level 55: 575 DPS, 690 damage per hit, 4,298 hitpoints and 1,500 health recovery. The level 55 upgrade costs 450,000 Dark Elixir, takes 8 days and requires Hero Hall 12.
The Royal Champion arrived with the Town Hall 13 update on December 9, 2019, becoming the fourth Home Village Hero added to Clash of Clans. The modern Hero Hall order is different: she is currently the fifth Hero unlocked because the Minion Prince becomes available earlier.
Her job is to hunt defenses. She is a ranged single-target Hero that can hit ground and air targets, moves at speed 24 and attacks from 3 tiles. Unlike most Heroes, her preferred target is Defenses, so she keeps moving from one defensive building to the next while any remain.
For more on Hero Hall progression, Hero Banners and choosing attacking or defending Heroes, Supercell explains the current Hero system here.
Royal Champion upgrades use Dark Elixir. At max level 55 she is a dangerous late-attack finisher, but her moderate hitpoints still reward careful timing, spell support, pets and equipment choices.

The Royal Champion can equip two pieces of Hero Equipment when attacking and does not use Hero Equipment while defending. She starts with Royal Gem and Seeking Shield. Blacksmith progression unlocks Hog Rider Puppet and Haste Vial, while Rocket Spear, Electro Boots and Frost Flake are Epic options.
Her best equipment depends on the job: late cleanup, a Royal Champion Charge, deep-defense sniping or a fast defense-to-defense finish.

Provides a large health recovery when the ability is used and adds passive damage and maximum-health bonuses.

Throws a shield that seeks up to four targets, prioritizing defenses regardless of distance, and deals heavy damage to each target.

Summons Hog Riders, gives the Royal Champion a brief invisibility window and provides substantial health recovery.

Greatly increases movement and attack speed for a short period, helping her chain through defenses quickly.

Extends attack range and damage and periodically adds a small splash effect, making it useful for sniping defenses from farther away.

Creates an electric aura that damages nearby enemies and buildings while also providing self-healing and max-health support.

Fires multiple snow flakes at the closest defense, briefly freezes targets and deals additional damage.
The Royal Champion is strongest when defenses are already distracted. Sending her behind the main army lets tanks take the first wave of damage while she moves from defense to defense.
Her defense targeting makes her excellent at cleaning up the back end of a base after the main army has weakened it. A later deployment often lets her remove isolated Inferno Towers, Scattershots or other remaining threats without taking fire from the whole base.
The Royal Champion can be supported by Healers for a dedicated charge. Her shorter range makes positioning more demanding than a Queen Walk, but she reaches defenses quickly. Druids can provide temporary support, and Invisibility Spells can keep her alive through high-damage sections.
A single-target Inferno Tower can stop her quickly after it locks on. Earthquake and Lightning Spells can remove a bad Inferno placement, while Rocket Spear can help her attack key defenses from farther away.
Haste Vial and Hog Rider Puppet are a flexible pair for many attacks because the Royal Champion gains speed, recovery, invisibility and extra units to absorb fire. Seeking Shield with Rocket Spear leans toward deep-defense removal, while Hog Rider Puppet with Royal Gem gives a Royal Champion Charge more staying power.
Electro Boots can add close-range damage and self-healing. With Haste Vial it supports a fast charge through clustered defenses; with Hog Rider Puppet the summoned Riders can help tank while the Boots damage nearby targets.
Spirit Fox is a strong fit for Royal Champion Charges because invisibility can help her survive as she moves through defenses. Other pets can be better when the army needs stuns, extra damage or tanking, so the pet should match her job in the attack.
On defense, place the Royal Champion where several high-DPS defenses can support her. She has strong damage but moderate health for a Hero, so she performs best when attackers must deal with her while also handling the surrounding defenses.
Minor defenses such as Cannons, Mortars or Archer Towers can absorb a Seeking Shield hit if an attacker is still using that equipment, helping protect higher-value defenses deeper in the base.
She attacks relatively slowly and does not have the raw hitpoints of a front-line tank. Swarms, high-damage troops and well-timed spells can bring her down quickly. A Poison Spell also reduces her attack speed.
Because she prioritizes defenses, attackers can sometimes move troops past her if those troops leave her search radius. The safest approach is still to remove her while she is distracted, especially when she is positioned near high-value defenses.

The current maximum in this 2026 table is level 55. Level 55 requires Hero Hall 12 at Town Hall 18.
At Town Hall 13, Hero Hall 7 supports the Royal Champion through level 25.
At Town Hall 14, Hero Hall 8 supports the Royal Champion through level 30.
At Town Hall 15, Hero Hall 9 supports the Royal Champion through level 40.
In the current Hero Hall system, the Royal Champion unlocks at Hero Hall level 7, which is available at Town Hall 13.
Spirit Fox is a strong Royal Champion option when invisibility helps her survive a charge through defenses. The best pet still depends on the army and the role you need her to perform.
A Royal Champion Charge is a planned section of an attack where the Royal Champion is supported with healing, invisibility or other utility so she can remove a chain of important defenses before joining or supporting the main army.
The Royal Champion was added with the Town Hall 13 update on December 9, 2019.
