🟡 10 TH8 Layouts 🟡 Anti Hog & Ground Spam 🟡 Anti Dragon & DragLoon 🟡 Updated August 2026
Town Hall 8 adds several changes that directly affect base design: the Bomb Tower joins your defenses, the Archer Queen becomes available, the Blacksmith unlocks Hero Equipment, and Dark Barracks and Dark Spell Factory upgrades add stronger ground armies and Earthquake-based attacks. Dark Elixir itself begins at TH7, while TH8 expands how heavily you use and protect it. This guide covers 10 TH8 war base layouts for 2026, with placement advice for the Bomb Tower, the single Air Sweeper, hidden defenses and Queen-aware pathing.
Town Hall 8 introduces the Bomb Tower as a new defense and lets you further upgrade the Air Sweeper that was unlocked earlier. TH8 attackers can also bring the Archer Queen, Valkyries, Golems, Poison and Earthquake Spells. The placement guide below focuses on the defensive pieces and pathing decisions that matter most at this Town Hall level.
The following 10 TH8 layouts are available on CocWarBase with direct in-game copy links. The set is war-focused and also includes Trophy and Hybrid options, with compartment shapes designed around Bomb Tower value, Air Sweeper coverage and Archer Queen pathing.
TH8 War Base #1 – Petal Cross Diamond | Anti 3 Star | War Base
This TH8 war base uses four petal-shaped compartments around a central cross. Each petal creates a separate breach, which makes a single straight funnel less efficient and can split Giants, Valkyries or cleanup troops. The Town Hall occupies the meeting point behind an additional wall layer, while key storages are separated across different petals to absorb damage without opening every defense at once. The repeated compartment turns are especially useful against Hog and ground pushes that rely on predictable pathing.
TH8 War Base #2 – Compact Nested Ring | War Base
This TH8 war base uses square-in-square rings rotated into a diamond. The tight gaps between layers force Wall Breakers and ground troops to deal with more than one wall line before reaching the center. The Town Hall sits inside the smallest central ring, while the surrounding storages and defenses add hitpoints between the outer entry and the core. Its compact shape is easy to rotate for war and trophy use without exposing a direct path to the Town Hall.
TH8 Trophy Base #3 – Diamond Quadrant Cluster | Anti 3 Star | Trophy Base
This TH8 trophy base divides the village into four large diamond quadrants around a smaller independent Town Hall compartment. Breaching one quadrant does not automatically open the center or the opposite side, so attackers must spend more time and wall access to finish the core. Resource buildings are distributed across the quadrants, while the isolated inner diamond helps protect the Town Hall from a simple one-lane push.
TH8 Hybrid Base #4 – Diamond Cross Compartment Box | Anti 3 Star | Hybrid Base
This TH8 hybrid base uses an angular cross-and-diamond wall pattern with uneven compartment sizes. The irregular geometry makes a clean funnel harder to read and can pull ground troops away from the intended core entry. The Town Hall sits slightly above center with storages and defenses sharing the inner coverage, while an outside non-defensive building acts as a time target. The balance of Town Hall protection and distributed storage hitpoints suits both war defense and trophy play.
TH8 War Base #5 – Hexagonal Ring Compression | Anti 3 Star | War Base
This TH8 war base compresses multiple angular rings around a central Town Hall. The narrow ring transitions create predictable ground junctions where splash damage and traps can gain value, while separated storages add hitpoints around the core. An outer non-defensive building adds a time target away from the main walls. The compact structure is best suited to defending Giant, Valkyrie and Hog-supported ground pushes.
TH8 War Base #6 – Chained Vault Core | Anti 3 Star | War Base
This TH8 war base chains angular compartments around a tight central Town Hall ring. The offset outer buildings can pull cleanup troops away from the main entry, while the staggered inner walls make it difficult to open several compartments with one Wall Breaker route. Storages and defenses are split around the core to avoid one high-value breach. The layout is a strong war option when its Air Sweeper faces the cleanest Dragon approach.
TH8 War Base #7 – Hexagonal Meadow Grid | Anti 3 Star | War Base
This TH8 war base uses an interlocking hexagonal grid with the Town Hall slightly offset from the central junction. That offset can disturb a straight core push and makes Archer Queen pathing less predictable than a perfectly centered design. Resource storages are distributed across separate compartments, and outer non-defensive buildings create additional funnel decisions. The repeated junctions are useful against Giant and Hog-heavy attacks that depend on clean defensive pathing.
TH8 War Base #8 – Compact Diamond Core | Anti 3 Star | War Base
This TH8 war base compresses a diamond-ring design into a small footprint. The Town Hall remains central, with key storages and defenses split across the inner ring so one breach does not expose every high-value target. The top-side trap lane and isolated outer building can disrupt a predictable funnel, while the short distances between defenses create strong overlapping fire. Rotate the layout if repeated war scouts learn the trap side or Air Sweeper direction.
TH8 Trophy Base #9 – Hexagonal Cluster Grid | Trophy Base
This TH8 trophy base uses nested hexagonal rings with the Town Hall in the tightest central compartment. Resource storages are spread across different sides, forcing a loot-focused attacker to enter more than one section. The repeated rings slow a rushed ground push and keep defensive coverage active around the center. It is primarily a trophy layout, but the layered core can also serve as a secondary war option.
TH8 War Base #10 – Diamond Core Stronghold | Anti 3 Star | War Base
This TH8 war base uses a tight diamond ring with the Town Hall behind the innermost wall layer. Storages and defenses are distributed around that ring to add hitpoints and crossfire without relying on one overloaded compartment. An outer top-side building acts as a time target, while the lower approach contains likely trap and funnel junctions. The simple layered structure makes this a dependable TH8 clan-war layout that is easy to inspect and rotate.
Town Hall 8 has eight core defense types: Cannons, Archer Towers, Mortars, Air Defenses, Wizard Towers, an Air Sweeper, Hidden Teslas and a Bomb Tower. The two most layout-defining pieces are the Bomb Tower for grouped ground damage and the Air Sweeper for directional air control.
Place the Bomb Tower inside a compartment on a likely ground route. Put Giant Bombs or Spring Traps on adjacent pathing tiles where Hog Riders or Giants may group; traps cannot sit underneath a building. The goal is to layer the Bomb Tower’s splash and destruction damage with nearby defenses, not isolate it on an unused edge.
The Air Sweeper deals no direct damage, so its value comes from orientation and overlap. Face it through the longest likely Dragon or Balloon lane so each push keeps air troops under Air Defense, Archer Tower and Wizard Tower fire for longer. Recheck its direction whenever you rotate the base.

Building a TH8 war base means balancing a limited building count against air spam, Hog pathing, heavy ground armies and the Archer Queen. Use these seven rules:
➤ Layer the Town Hall and Clan Castle. Avoid a clean route that gives attackers both buildings from one breach; an offset Town Hall is useful only when it deliberately distorts pathing or wastes time.
➤ Point the Air Sweeper through the strongest air lane. TH8 has one Air Sweeper, so make its push overlap Air Defenses, Archer Towers and Wizard Towers.
➤ Place the Bomb Tower on real ground pathing. Its splash and destruction damage should reach grouped Hog Riders, Giants, Valkyries or support troops.
➤ Spread the three Hidden Teslas. Separate compartments create surprise damage without letting one push remove every Tesla.
➤ Protect the Dark Elixir Storage and exposed Air Defenses. Keep them away from an easy Archer Queen route along the outside walls.
➤ Make the Clan Castle difficult to lure. A central trigger radius and a full defensive troop mix force attackers to commit before drawing the troops out.
➤ Rotate the layout after repeated use. Replays reveal trap locations, the Air Sweeper direction and the easiest Queen funnel.
A current TH8 war base should be checked against several common attack families rather than one supposedly universal meta:
Dragons attack any nearby building, while Balloons prioritize defenses. Stagger Air Defenses, keep them away from easy perimeter Queen value, and aim the Air Sweeper so it pushes air troops across overlapping coverage rather than toward the core.
The TH8 Archer Queen can remove exposed buildings and shape one side before the main army enters. Offset vulnerable Air Defenses from the outer wall and cover likely Queen routes with Archer Towers, Teslas, the defending Hero and Clan Castle range.
Hog Riders jump walls and target defenses, so wall depth alone will not stop them. Use separated Giant Bomb and Spring Trap paths, Bomb Tower coverage and uneven defense spacing to break the pack’s route.
Lightning and Earthquake can remove or weaken a key defense before Dragons or ground troops enter. Separate Air Defenses and other high-value targets so one spell investment cannot open the entire base, then use compartment turns to slow Golems, P.E.K.K.A.s and Valkyries.
The best TH8 war base protects the Town Hall and Clan Castle behind layered compartments, aims the single Air Sweeper through the main air lane, places the Bomb Tower on real ground pathing, spreads the three Hidden Teslas and denies the Archer Queen easy access to Air Defenses from outside the walls.
Place the Bomb Tower inside a compartment along the ground lane attackers are most likely to funnel through — typically the widest open approach. Its splash damage and death explosion are most effective against a grouped Hog Rider or Giant push, not an isolated troop.
Face the single Air Sweeper through the most likely Dragon or Balloon approach, preferably where its push keeps air troops inside overlapping Air Defense, Archer Tower and Wizard Tower range. TH8 does not newly unlock the Air Sweeper; it upgrades the one available from an earlier Town Hall.

Fill the TH8 Clan Castle’s 25 housing spaces with a complete defensive mix rather than one small troop. A Baby Dragon with ranged support or a Valkyrie-and-Wizard mix can punish grouped attackers; use Archers to fill remaining space and keep the Clan Castle difficult to lure.
